NRW debattiert Europa is a project launched in 2014/15 by the Jean Monnet Chair for European Integration and European Policy at the University Duisburg-Essen for universities from all over North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW), in which Bachelor's and Master's students have the opportunity to discuss the Europe of the future and compete against each other.
NRW debattiert Europa is therefore convincing due to the strengthening of independent thinking, the enhancement of argumentation skills and eloquent presentation, its NRW-wide competitive character, and a clear practical relevance. The students learn competences that have a strong influence on their personal development, as well as sharpening their political science skills.
In 2016, NRW debattiert Europa was awarded the Europe-wide PADEMIA teaching prize and has been financially supported by the NRW State Chancellery since the beginning.
