The German edition of the edited volume on the 2024 European elections has now been published by Springer under the title Die Europawahl 2024: Rechtsruck im Schatten des Krieges. The work was edited by Prof. Dr. Michael Kaeding (Institute for Political Science, University of Duisburg-Essen), Dr. Alexander Hoppe (University of Duisburg-Essen) and Dr. Manuel Müller (Finnish Institute of International Affairs, Helsinki).
The volume analyses the 2024 European elections for the first time immediately after the conclusion of the election cycle and offers a factually sound and timely assessment. It analyses the 2024 European elections against the backdrop of international crises, such as Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the war in Gaza, as well as numerous political challenges within the EU. The focus is on various facets of the electoral process at European level: the spectrum ranges from electoral systems, election campaigns and public perception to the role of European parties, the factors influencing voting behaviour and the consequences of the election result for European governance.
