H2020 SeNECA

SEnECA (Strengthening and Energizing EU-Central Asia Relations) was a project to strengthen EU-Central Asia relations. It established a sustainable research network and a stakeholder network. The aim was to improve research cooperation and develop a common agenda for the future. A communication plan was designed to promote the importance of Central Asia in Europe. SEnECA strengthened capacities in research and policy advice and analysed networks of researchers and stakeholders to establish a research database and recommend priorities for scientific cooperation.

Dr. Michael Kaeding, Professor of European Policy at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), and Dr. Katrin Böttger, Deputy Director of the Berlin Institute for European Politics (IEP) led it and received support from Brussels: the European Commission funded SEnECA for two years with around 1.5 million euros.
