The University of Bremen is currently offering a Postdoc/Research Assistant (m/f/d) position within the Department of Social Sciences at the Institute for European Studies, to start as soon as possible (no earlier than 1 October 2026). The position is initially for a fixed term of three years, with the possibility of extension.
Tasks include, amongst other things, teaching 4 contact hours per week (SWS), contributing to research and participating in the acquisition of externally funded research projects. In addition, candidates are expected to produce their own academic work (e.g. a habilitation thesis or equivalent) and to contribute to other university duties, such as academic administration.
Prerequisites are a completed postgraduate degree (Master’s or university diploma) in political or social sciences, as well as an excellent PhD (or one that is to be completed). Applicants are expected to have an independent research profile in the fields of European integration, EU policy and research, demonstrated by relevant publications, as well as a sound knowledge of empirical social science methods and a very good command of English. A willingness to teach in English is required. International research collaborations, teaching experience in the field of EU policy and EU integration, and experience in academic administration are advantageous.
