The European elections are on 9 June 2024. EUROPE DIRECT and the Europa Union Hamburg want to be very present with you throughout the city of Hamburg in order to encourage as many people as possible to vote where they are active. To this end, they want to join forces and ring in the start of the 2024 European elections together with you.
Prof Dr Michael Kaeding, Professor of European Integration and European Politics at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen, will give a keynote speech to set the mood for the European election campaign. He has been researching European elections and the mobilisation of voters for a long time and has also repeatedly published introductory presentations for non-experts, such as the “European Election Guide 2019”, which was produced in cooperation with the North Rhine-Westphalia State Centre for Political Education.
Prof Kaeding will discuss which issues will determine the 2024 European elections, which voter groups can be motivated to vote and how young and first-time voters in particular can be persuaded to go to the polls on 9 June.
