The newly established interdisciplinary competence center SOUNDS (Societal Observatory Using Novel Data Sources) at Saarland University is advertising a postdoctoral research position (f/m/d) in the field of societal computing. The position is limited to two years and is to be filled as soon as possible.
The tasks include conducting internationally visible research in the fields of computational social science, natural language processing, computer vision, or geoinformatics; establishing partnerships with regional, national, and international actors; supervising theses; and providing support in teaching and project management. In addition, the position involves collaborating on data preparation, project proposals, scientific publications, conferences, and workshops, as well as actively communicating with cooperation partners and administrative units.
Applicants should have a doctorate in computer science, statistics, mathematics, digital humanities or a related field (completed or nearing completion). Strong experience in applied machine learning and hands-on experience working with large data sets related to earth observation or (social) networks is required, as well as an established international network of contacts in research, international development or public sector consulting. Very good commad of written and spoken skills are also a prerequisite.
