The European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) is currently offering a Postdoc/Academic Assistant position for the Master’s programme in European Studies, starting on 1 February 2026, as a temporary replacement. The position is to be filled until 31 March 2028.
This vacancy is aimed in particular at individuals who can complete their advanced qualification work (Habilitation) within two years. The role involves both teaching and research. Specifically, two courses per semester will be taught, such as ‘Introduction to the Sociology of Europe and European Integration’, social science methods and social conflicts in Europe. In addition, the duties include supervising and assessing Master’s theses (in German and English) and organisational work in the MA programme. On-site presence is expected three days per week (including lecture-free periods).
A completed doctorate in a social science discipline and extensive experience in university teaching, ideally with innovative formats, are also expected. A research focus and publications on European topics are required, and in-depth knowledge of Central and Eastern Europe is desirable. Very good German and English skills are required, and knowledge of other European languages is an advantage. The ability to work in a team, a high level of commitment and confidence in using IT tools (MS Office, CMS) are required.
