The pan-European Volt party was one of the few parties in the progressive camp that was able to celebrate its election results in the European elections: In Germany and the Netherlands, the small party, which was only founded in 2017, won a total of 5 seats in the European Parliament. According to Hoppe, the brash slogans on election posters, the good work in Brussels and the fact that Volt has not yet had any national government responsibility have contributed to its electoral success.
