New article by Dr Hoppe in the Journal of Common Market Studies (JCMS)

On 24 July, the article ‘Adaptation, Experimentation or Conservation? The Use of Differentiated Implementation Under the Energy Efficiency Directive’, written by Dr Alex Hoppe in collaboration with colleagues from the Universities of Utrecht and Brno (Michael Hübner, Sebastiaan Princen, Martin Svec), was published in the Journal of Common Market Studies (JCMS). In this article, we present an innovative theoretical model to analyse differentiation in the implementation of EU directives. We identify the motives of legislators to grant member states flexibility in implementation and analyse how and why states make use of this flexibility.
