EPC Invitation -  Revitalizing Türkiye-EU relations in the aftermath of the earthquakes

​The EPC and the Istanbul Policy Center-Sabancı University-Stiftung Mercator Initiative, are pleased to invite you to this in-person Policy Dialogue on how to revitalize Türkiye-EU relations in the aftermath of the recent devastating earthquakes. Bringing together experts from Türkiye and Europe, the event aims to discuss how relations can move beyond their transactional nature. This issue will be tackled from different perspectives, from human security to political governance. Additionally, since the upcoming elections will be one of the major topics of discussion in Türkiye, the challenges concerning the election process will also be addressed.
Michael Kaeding from the Chair of European Integration and Politics of the European Union at the University of Duisburg-Essen will participate as a speaker at this event.

Participation is open to EPC members and Turkey-Europe Future Forum alumni only, the media and EU officials.

Call for Applications: 2023/24 round of the Mercator-IPC Fellowship Program

The Istanbul Policy Center-Sabancı University-Stiftung Mercator Initiative invites academics, journalists, and professionals to apply for the Mercator-IPC Fellowship Program. The deadline for 2023/24 fellowship applications is April 17, 2023, 18:00 (EEST). The fellowship begins on September 1, 2023.

The Mercator-IPC Fellowship Program is part of the Istanbul Policy Center-Sabancı University-Stiftung Mercator Initiative. The program aims to strengthen academic, political, and social ties between Turkey and Germany, as well as between Turkey and Europe, based on the premise that the acquisition of knowledge and the exchange of people and ideas are preconditions for meeting the challenges of a globalized world.

Die große Abschlussveranstaltung NRW debattiert Europa 8.0

NRW debattiert Europa ist ein vom Jean-Monnet-Lehrstuhl für Europäische Integration und Europapolitik der Universität Duisburg-Essen inszeniertes Projekt für Universitäten aus NRW, an denen Bachelor- und Master-Studierende die Möglichkeit haben, das Europa der Zukunft zu diskutieren und im Wettbewerb gegeneinander anzutreten.

Zum Sieg debattierte sich in der 8. Auflage von NRW debattiert Europa das Team aus Münster unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Matthias Freise! Als beste Rednerin setzte sich Elena Schneider von der WWU Münster durch.

Vielen Dank an alle Teams und Dozierenden für einen spannenden Wettbewerb und die tolle Vorbereitung der Studierenden! Ein großes Dankeschön geht natürlich auch an unsere diesjährige Jury und die Staatskanzlei NRW, ohne die der Wettbewerb nicht durchführbar wäre!

Exkursion nach Brüssel

Im Rahmen des Masterstudiengangs ‚Politikmanagement, Public Policy und öffentliche Verwaltungen‘ der NRW School of Governance des Instituts für Politikwissenschaft, führt der Lehrstuhl für Europapolitik und Europäische Integration der Universität Duisburg-Essen nach Corona-Pause wieder eine Exkursion nach Brüssel durch. Zu den Höhepunkten des Programms vom 08.01.2023-11.01.2023 zählen zweifellos der Besuch des EU-Parlamentes, die Besichtigung des Hauses der Europäischen Geschichte und des Parlamentariums, einige Treffen mit EU-Politiker*innen und der Aufenthalt in der NRW-Landesvertretung in Brüssel. Neben vielen weiteren spannenden Aktivitäten werden die Studierenden diverse Policy-Paper präsentieren, die in Vorbereitung auf die Exkursion angefertigt wurden. Die, von Dr. Manuel Müller ins Leben gerufene, Exkursion findet unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Michael Kaeding statt. Ermöglicht wurde dies durch die freundliche Unterstützung der AURORA-Alliance, dem Jean-Monnet-Lehrstuhl für Europapolitik und Europäische Integration, Renew-Europe, der S&D, sowie der Fakultät für Gesellschaftswissenschaften der Universität Duisburg-Essen.
